There are many letters from Walter Cousins to Ion Idriess relating to Angus and Robertson sales and which future projects he should focus on, like focusing on the Sidney Kidman story which later became The Cattle King.
There is also, Ion Idriess’s portable writing desk, his wallet with items still in it, his instamatic camera and a reel of his funeral.
There are many photographs in the Kimberley region, cattle stations and waterholes. There are some striking images from Papua New Guinea and Northern Territory people including numerous photographs which were used in the finial publication of Idriess’s books. Perhaps the most impressive are those photographs used in Gold Dust and Ashes.

Just as we thought Paul had exhausted all the items from the estate of Ion Idriess and that our wallets were safe, lo and behold - there's more! This auction has some very interesting and unique items for all us Idriessophiles, but I might have to get a loan! But well worth a look and a bid - though some items are out of my league, there are others that I am tempted by and that my budget may just allow me to have a go. All the best for those bidding - but I hope some of these items are published. Tom Thompson, are you there?
